Is it possible to take my Navionics Hot Map chip from my Huminbird 797c2 and display it on my computer so I can review lakes and put in way points. If so what do I need to get to do it. Thanks

Sorry….not possible.
You could get a 12v plug-in and use your unit indoors to
scout areas and add waypoints. You wouldn’t need to have GPS signal to do so.
Or you could buy the Contour Pro software from LakeMaster
and load it onto your pc. This software is also a great
way to have a backup of your waypoints in case your unit
ever grows legs or has a catastrophic failure.

Woody,
You need Navplanner. The new Navplanner II will be available soon for $99.99 shipped. We’re out of the original Navplanner here at Jolly Ann Marine but you might still be able to find one out there at another retailer.
NavPlanner – Plan Ahead on your PC
New NavPlanner – an essential tool for navigation planning and management on your PC at home or office, then save directly to a media card compatible with your chartplotter.
Use NavPlanner with your genuine Navionics chart to:
* View Navionics charts on your PC
* Load, create and save waypoints and routes to and from your compatible CF, MMC, or SD media cartridge.
* Access and print full data details on your routes and waypoints.
* Locate ports with the Go-to-port feature.
* Measure distance, bearing, fuel autonomy and much more.
* Access tide & current, sun & moon rise data – show tidal flow direction and velocity on chart.
* Easily select full description of all chart objects with Xplain
* Includes Navionics all-purpose 23-in-1 Multi Card ReaderJanuary 25, 2010 at 4:56 pm #836101Hi Wade,
I guess you would have to convert your waypoints to transfer
them into a Humminbird with the ContourPro.
It looks fairly easy to do so once you have the appropriate
software on your PC.Depending on how old Woody’s Navionics chip is it might be
a better option to go with the ContourPro because of the
possible extra lakes with better information.
It’s almost like you’re buying a map card with the Contour
Pro.It’s my understanding that NavPlanner allows you to view
what you already have. Correct?January 26, 2010 at 7:29 pm #836654Hi there Dan!
Navplanner allows you to pull up your maps off your Navionics card and display those maps on your PC. It also allows you to manage waypoints. From my interpretation of the question, Navplanner does what he was asking in the initial post. I’m not very familiar with contour pro however and I know you know your stuff, so it certainly could be the better option.
Here’s the details:
An essential tool for navigation planning and management on your PC at home. View your Navionics charts, search, and plan GPS waypoints; load, create, save and print routes and waypoints. Plan your entire trip with detailed navigation and fishing maps including bottom contours, structure, drop-offs, marinas, boat ramps, fishery information, and more. Locate ports with Go-to-port; measure distance, bearing, and fuel autonomy. Includes Navionics all-purpose 23-in-1 Multi Card Reader.
