You guys are the closest so far….but it is not branches from above.
Is it the root structure of a tree? Wouldn’t happen to be a shoreline brushpile on the little lake?
UFO crash site–I am calling the sheriff’s office as we speak.
I knew there was something strange about that lake.
heck, I am a lowrance guy too.
Reel weeds? Left in water over? (the ones you buy for ice fishing)

Erick’s discharge?
Bk has a doctor ever asked you to lie down on couch and have you explain what color the sky is
I’ll announce the true identity of this object (or rather, should I say…these objects) at 1:00 pm today.
One more clue: these are natural, rather than man-made, objects.
Keep those guesses coming!
A ginormous pile of LCX and LMS units??
Upon further review I did pick up a few HDS units!

How about a Beaver/Otter/muskrat house?
Or maybe something like a small clump of cattails -(although doubtful)
Mike
1. Looks like a good return, so I would say its wood-based. Especially since you said it was not man-made.
2. If the water dropped a foot and the result would be a much different image, I assume that the structure is only in the top 1-3 feet of the water colum in your SI.
3. You can also sort of see under or through the structure to the (sand?) bank behind it. Supports the idea that the structure is mainly in the upper foot or two of the water column, and not really all the way from top to bottom.
4. you said it wasn’t branches hanging into the water from above, but how about going through the water from the side.
Possibly a tree growing horizontal with the water surface. When the water is high, the main couple of branches are submerged (barely), which is what you see in your image. When the water is low, they are out of the water and might not even register on the SI assuming they are completely above the water surface. Something like a willow or other flood tolerating tree growing at an unusual angle with respect to horizontal…
Although I could be waaaaay off…
Mike
The correct answer is….
submerged lily pads.
The stalks on the pads must have developed during normal water levels, and with the constant up and down of summer water levels (caused by local air conditioning power demands), there must be some periods during which the water is high enough to cover the pads. The pads were about 6″ under water when I collected this image.
A lot of guys have picked up on the brightness of the returns and suspected something hard, especially wood. I was surprised as well to see that I was imaging something soft. My best guess is that the waxy coating on the surface of the pads is really good at scattering the sonar waves, making the return look like it’s coming from a harder than expected object.
Thanks for playing everyone!
But I was going to say that!!! (It actually did cross my mind, but I discarded the thought… Looked like a much harder return!!)
Fun… Can we play again??
We should have a side game for Wissota guys to guess the location where the image was collected.
2Ks doesn’t get to play…I think I may have told him on Tuesday night.
Oneil Creek?
I have to confess that I have my usual haunts and am not familiar with too many other places that are “off the beaten path”… I’m assuming somewhere in a creek arm somewhere?

I know I’ve seen pads before in that little southern offshoot off of the little lake…
