I went over the top of these two wing dams going down stream to give a reference point.

The first pic is of a wing dam that dosen`t carry much current unless the water is high, and is rather shallow. You can see how the rocks are not clean and areas are filled in. You can see the trough in front of the wing dam on the right side there appears to be three fish in the trough where the sand and rock meet ( white marks ).

Pic two is of a deeper wing dam that allways has a strong current acrossed it. The rocks are sharp and defenent. On the left side the very top of the wind dam you can still see its shallower, but the closer rocks being higher block the side imaging so you can`t see the face or back of the wingdam. On the right side you can see the sand chutes that form from the current running into the wing dam You can see where the low and high current and edges of the current… the spot on the spot. The lower left corner tells me where my cursor is at the very front edge is 7 feet deep. Distance behind the boat is lower right 212 feet. This particular wing dam is usually a low water spot.

Pic 3 is running along a bank with a sharp drop. The right image the very dark ( black ) is shoreline. In the zoom window is a small pod of fish I have know clue as to kind. I did not get a good pic of them I stopped the screen before the pod was totaly on my screen and it`s pretty grainy.

Edited to add once I figure out all the cool arrows and stuff in paint it`ll be easier to point things out.

How do I stagger the pictures to put the wright up in between them?

Nice shots, I have a couple more shallow wings I would like you to drive over on 7,8 and 9 when can you get them?

The detail of the sand piled up behind the wingdam in shot #2 is incredible. Late summer when the water levels drop and the fish start hanging right on top and slightly behind the crest of the wingdam knowing where and how the sand was piled up behind the wingie would be incredibly valuable!

This is a closing dam. The dam sits just behind a point the sand is actually on the upstream side where the current eddy is.

Nice shots! I have a bunch I did last year running parrallel to the wing dams on both the up and down stream side. Some of the best wing dams I have found so far have been hit by barges

Too many people are using this technology now. I kind of liked it when I thought I was the only one….
