Memorial day was the first full weekend out on the water. Starting the weekend I got the message “transducer not connected”. Got it to work for Sunday and monday morning with a little coaxing. After that monday that’s the only thing that happens now.

Submitted the online form tonight to HBird and curious to see what will happen. If my troubleshooting was correct it’s a bad head unit. Did a little digging in this forum and tried a software update with no luck.

I purchased the 597hd ci di last year in late July from Thorne Bros. Can’t seem to find the receipt though. Hoping I don’t have to fight with anyone.

Troubleshooting, thankfully I had an older Hbird from a friend.
Power up, power down, power up. Failing 100% on mine, succeeding 100% on the loaner
Disconnect, reconnect to the mounting bracket and power up. Failing 100% on mine, succeeding 100% on the loaner
Removed the wired from the mounting bracket. Connected them by hand. Failing 100% on mine, succeeding 100% on the loaner.

Did one baseline test to see if the older unit would give the “transducer not connected” message. connected the power cord only and it did say the transducer was not connected.

First time with Hbird customer service, we’ll see how it goes.

That sucks, I’m sorry to hear that

I’m having issues with my kicker motor at the moment, so my boat’s gonna be in the shop for who knows how long

I’ve dealt with HB customer service though, and they are top notch

You’ll actually get to talk to a person from the USA

Check the transducer settings in the menus
to see if it got set to a different transducer.

If you bought it at Thorne Bros. Bring it in and see if they can help you with your update and just a check to see if it is the unit.
Did you register your unit with Humminbird?

    Good Luck

    Steve

Haven’t had a chance to get up to Thorne yet.

Thanks to the forum I did get the software updated last night. No, I didn’t register it initially but had to do so last night to get the updates.

after some delay I’ve got an update. Confession due to a trip to Rainy and other things the delay to send it in was on my side.

Send the head unit in two weeks ago and got it back last week. Sent it up to the lake on Sunday with dad.

In the package it said they found nothing wrong with the head unit. As a response they sent a transducer troubleshooting guide and a new transducer. Found that extremely odd as all tests on my end indicated the head unit was busted.

Dad hooked up the new transducer and the head unit = Succcess!! This is not his expertise but sounds like he did the tests correctly.

Overall impression is very favorable for my first go round with their Customer Service.
