Hello H-bird users…I am a bit confused with reading some descriptions for products that I may or may not need. I currently have a 788CI HD and just picked up a 859CI HD. I want to ethernet these 2 units together and thought it was as simple as getting a ethernet cable and hooking them together, but after some research I may need some adapter cable? Here is the product description for the adapter cable that has me confused…..

An approximately 12″ cable is required if you want ethernet capabilities on a 700 HD Series Humminbird product. If you are connecting one 700 HD Series product with another 700 HD Series product, you will require two of these cables. If you are connecting one 700 HD Series product with either a 800, 900 or 1100 Series product, you will only need one of these adapters plus one of the AS EC2, 10, 20 or 30 foot cables. Software updates on some 700 HD and some 800, 900 and 1100 Series products may be necessary also.
    For use with:
    •MS 700E
    •778c HD
    •788ci HD Combo
    •798ci HD SI Combo

But the decription for the normal cable is…

    AS EC 15E 700HD, 800HD, 900HD, and 1100HD Units 15 ft. Ethernet Cable

Help me out….what do I need / do not need to hook up a 788CIHD and a 859CIHD….Thanks

You will need the adapter for the 700hd, an ethernet cable, and also an ethernet adapter for the new xx9 which is different than that of the 700hd.

Yup, 2 AS-EC-QDE’s are needed plus your ethernet cable. If you have intentions of adding anything else to the network you’ll need the 5 port Ethernet hub too (and more eth. cables)
