I posted that last week when was doing seminars there. The 2 they had lasted about 3 hours and gone. Now that the 1199’s are out with the new fancy white button and more importantly – the faster processor, the ’98s have been blown out. I’m sure if you search hard enough fast, you’ll find a new in the box 1198 for around that 1500 mark. As long as you can get them new, I wouldn’t go used unless its a price you couldn’t pass up.

yep, what’s funny is some stores refusal to clearance the older models. My local Gander store wouldn’t lower the price at all on their older xx98 models…I told the guy they are nuts, who in their right mind is going to spend more $$ for last years discontinued model when the newest models are $500 cheaper, he just looked at me confused…

I’m hoping to find a new/left over 998HD SI for less than a grand..if you see one, give a holler!

I see on Reed’s website that there 1198 is $500 more than there 1199. I wonder why that is???? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Because the retailers are deep into the original pricing..Reeds probably paid $2,300+ for the $2,500+ retail units a year ago, they are just trying to get back what they paid for them… like I said, no customer is going to pay those prices when the new units have the $500 price drop, so the retailers are going to have to eat it if Humminbird doesn’t buy them back as warranty replacements..

Same is true for those looking to sell their 8’s to upgrade…because they are used, they are going to have to take an even bigger loss…

Last week the Johnson Outdoors company store on main street in Racine still had a 1198 for $1500. Had been on display… but they get such little traffic, and great majority is adult… I personally wouldn’t concern myself.

i’d be curious what the hours ran are on that display model, i’d be hesitant to buy a unit with a ton of hours on it…

    If it’s new, it’s still 100% warranty!
Two weeks ago, looking to upgrade my old US2 bow mount x-67, walked outta Cabela’s Owatonna with a 587Di Bird for 339 including tax. I’m not worried a bit, neither should you be if you can get the upgrade you want/need. NBD…
