I currently have a 788c with the external gps puck antenae. I want to get the new 899ci with internal antena. My question is can i hook up the puck antena also into the 899 for added acuracy, or are they not compatable?

You can hook it in, but it will depend on what module it is, and what software version your 899 is running. Some of the older pucks won’t work with newer software versions.

    Hi,
The new 899ci’s will hookup to an external GPS antenna – no problem. As a side comment … the new 899ci DOES NOT come with the HDSI xducer (like the old 898i), but with the compact Side Imaging xducer that came with the old 700 series. The 899ci does support 800khz SI. What I have heard is that you can trade the unused compact Side Imaging xducer for the HDSI xducer (plus cash ~ $50.00 (I think)). Talk to HB CS if that’s what you want to do.

    Take care,
    Roger

Thanks for the great info, I plan on making the purchase in about a month and a half. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a tax refund.

They will readily hook up to an external module, whether they will connect with your current module will have to be determined at the time of plug in.

I added an 1198 to my boat and the module from my 997 was not compatible with the 1198 without downgrading software version of the 1198.

Your case may be different, or similar.
