I have been looking at upgrading to a 998 HD si or 898 HD si. My concern is where to mount and if I can get the si to work properly. I started leaving the plastic gears out on my current transducer after breaking 3 last summer. Do the si td come with a kick up bracket?

With that type of outboard it may be kind of tricky. But I would put it on that shield that is above your intake. Towards (closer to) the boat itself so that the intake does not obstruct the signal. Side image sends out a thin line in both directions and anything that blocks that will cause problems. Mounted there it will be protected from obsticles by the bottom of the boat. Plus, no holes in your boat.

Yes the Hbird transducers do have a kick up bracket on the transducer mounting plate. Depending how you want to set up your ducers the larger SI transducer can work at high speed at least on mine in 2D it will read up to 50 mph GPS. This year I switched up and went to the Y cable and a separate 2D transducer that way I raised up my SI transducer to keep it out of harms way, as stated can be set up either way.

SI transducer has to have a clear view with no obstructions to both sides of the boat, I do have to tilt my big motor up a tad to get my left side SI to read properly.
