Just wondering how great of a difference you guys have found between the transducers that come with the units, and the high-speed ones you can buy aftermarket.

The difference is most people either dont know how, or are unable to find a good mounting spot for their HDSI transducer to eliminate cavitaion at high speeds. Most people just add the y-cable and the high speed transducer, mount it and are done.

I believe both transducers have the same specs, just different shapes and of course the high speed only does 2d.

I’m strickly talking HBird transducers and not anything off brand.

What unit are you looking at a transducer for?

my last boat I had a hb 798 put on it . was an aluminum boat that maxed out at 31 mph . after a little playing around it worked awesome at full speed. had to mount it a little lower than called for. on my new boat with the 1198 si transducer I am having a heck of a time and think I have to move it. reads perfect at wot in calm waters but hiting waves it loses bottom till I stop. and the kicking up issue I had to add washers which leads me to believe its too low but do not see and good spots in the wx1850 to move it to? mounted below the step now
