1198c SI Fuse

Recently purchased an 1198c SI and am wondering whether you guys run an in line fuse system with your rigging. While running all the wires I was thinking I should likely put a fuse system in. When looking in to it, it appears the fuse addition would be protecting the other boat components from the 1198. This is opposite my thought process, however, warrants serious consideration. I set up my graph initially just to run it and check for transducer interference. It is currently hard wired directly to the cranking battery. If I do leave it wired there, it will operate off the same battery as the 115, CD deck, and potentially an external 12v port to run the satellite radio. Is it in my best interest to place an in line fuse or is it another fail point that is only risking minimally important items such as the deck and 12v port? If you run a fuse system, are you using a 3a; in line or spade type?

Any information regarding this matter is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your thoughts, experience, and expertise.

3A inline fuse. HumminBird has a disclaimer in the installation instructions that if the fuse is not used they are not responsible for over-voltage or over-current failures
