    won’t work with US2??

858c HD DI won’t connect to the US2 transducer.

I guess I assumed if it was i-Link compatible that people

would be using it at the bow……………and would be

able to connect to the Universal Sonar if desired.

    A$$-U-ME………..

Check the classifieds for this one…………..

It does connect to us2, just dont have the DI built into the trolling motor. You can run your regular 2d sonar off the us2 for the 858 and it works great.

Where did you get that info?

You should still be able to run the US2 and the Link. There are seperate connections for both. I think?

Both HB and MinnKota have confirmed this.

I have hooked up at least 3 of them to the us2 and have had zero issues that I know.

I understand this to be the compatibiliy list. However, the 858HD DI will transmit the 83/200 frequency that the US2 utilizes. It will work if the connector fits. Almost all of the 800 series have the same transducer connection on the back of the unit. Not for certain, but about 90%.

FYI….my 798HD isn’t on that list either, and it works just fine.

    Hi,
I would check with HB on connecting your 858 DI to a US2 xducer. I remember articles from other chat boards (IE. SideImageSoft.com) where the question was hooking a DI box (in this case a 596 HD DI) to a XI 9/20 Ice Ducer. “Humminbird” Greg’s reply to that is as follows:

    ************************************************************
That manual was written for both DI model and non-DI model units. The ice transducer was meant for the non-DI units. I hope you didn’t do it but trying to use the Ice transducer alone with your 596c HD DI unit could cause internal damage to the DI circuitry within the unit. Of course the unit has to be transmitting to do this (running in the normal operating mode) and if all you got was the “Transducer Not Connected” message it never got to that point.

Your best bet (in my opinion…) is to just use the DI transducer on some sort of rig for ice fishing. It has 2D sonar and you will have your selection of a narrower or wider 2D sonar to use versus the 200kHz sonar that you would have gotten if you could use an ice transducer.
    ***********************************************************

An HB Ice Ducer supports ONLY 83/200 KHZ frequency’s >>> just like the US2 on a Minn Kota.

    Just a thought,
    Roger

Didn’t he say to not use the ice x-ducer and to use the DI
    transducer, on a DI unit??

I’ve heard that also. Although, if you select the Dual Beam setting in the transducer select menu, then you turn off the transmission of the other signals. What potentially hurts the unit, is having an open load on one of the wires (DI in this case). When connecting a DI unit to the US2, you will have the open load scenario on the DI wires. However, selecting the Dual Beam, disables the transmission of the DI. No more open load!!!!

So you selected “Dual Beam” and it worked?

    Thanks!

I just wanted to make sure they were all the HD DI models and not the 858c models.

    Thanks Eric!
