788 & i-Pilot

    Is the 788ci HD DI compatable with the Minn Kota i-Pilot? Can you follow charted courses from the 788? If it is compatable are there any adapter and/or cables or anything else to make it work?

    It is compatible. You need to have the i-Pilot Link and the LakeMaster chip.

    The original i-Pilot will not follow contours.

    I have a follow up question on the i-Pilot Link system.

    Do you have to connect the trolling motor to the head unit
    via a US2 adapter cable for the “Link” to function?

    No, you connect the unit to the ipilot link via Ethernet. You will need an adapter cable for 700 series. These units don’t have the typical Ethernet port. The link comes with an Ethernet cable, bit not the adaptor.

    Also I do not see a Lakemaster card for Montana… Any help you can give me?

    It doesn’t appear that LakeMaster has surveyed any lakes in Montana.

    I’ll make a wager that Lake Master will cover most all of the map in the near future (next couple of years). They just added a bunch of states this year, according to an e-mail that I got recently.
