Which RAM Mount for 858c HD DI

    Is the 1.5″ ball big enough for this unit or should I go with the 2.25″.

    How long is the GPS antenna cable on the 858?

    I went with the 2.5,might be overkill but I like the big handel for adjusting it in cold weather.It is rock solid when traveling.

    I use the small one on my 788HDci, basically same size unit and never a problem

    The Ram website recommends the 2.25″ ball variety. The 800 series is different than the 700 series birds. I would use the 2.25″. If I already had a smaller one I might try it first.

    Get the big ball as I have the small ball and in rough water it will work its way done to the floor.

    I have two of them and they both have the 1.5 inch ball. It is more than sufficient for them. Doesn’t bang around and it sits rock solid.

    The 1 1/2″ ball will work but when putting them on the console we like to use the solid arm mount on the 800 series and up. I personally wouldnt use the 2 1/4″ as it is quiet larger and is also twice as expensive as the 1 1/2″
