I just ordered a Bird 587 HD DI combo and i’m wondering how I should seal the holes of the old Lowrance Ducer bracket so I can mount the Bird bracket? Should I fill them in with an epoxy and get a ducer board to put over it?

silicone the holes and then add the transducer mount block.

When I did mine I removed the old brackets, siliconed the holes and replaced the screws as well to make a better plug.
I then positioned the plastic mounting board where I wanted it and hit the board with a hammer a few times. The screws and rivets that were keeping the board from lying flat were then embossed into the plastic. I drilled counter holes out on the back of the board so the board would flush up.

Maybe it was overkill or unnecessary but in my eyes a hole with a screw (wedge) and silicone is better than a hole with just silicone.

Had to fill the holes of an old flasher bracket on the ranger alum. I put marine silicone on the hole and the screws then screwed them back in. Two days later I covered the screws with some more silicone. Has held up now for 6 years.
