How do most of you mount your Bird to the transom?

Directly to the boat or do you use a “Stern Saver” or build your own? And if you build your own, what do you use and how has it worked out?

Jeff I used a Stern Saver so that I could make adjustments to the transducer without drilling all the holes in the transom. This is the second boat I have done that with and would do it again.

As far as do it yourself rigs. I read somewhere that people have used a piece of composite deck board.

On my last 2 rigs, I’ve used a tall piece of Starboard, and thru-bolted in the splashwell area, so the mounting screws are not underwater all the time.

Also, I have the nuts on the outside, so I can remove the board (and ‘ducer) without breaking the sealant on the bolts, in case I whack the transducer and need to repair or replace.

Sometime I rent boat when fishing away from home. So I usually use my own.

Same as HRGuy, except mine is horizontal and heavily siliconed.
