Hope I made the right decision rather than a HDS unit. I seen where people mentioned of an additional high speed transducer, doesnt this unit not read at high speeds. My trusty ole LMS332 does that at WOT. Please tell me it does, Or I might just have to sell it and go back to Lowrance.
The reason for having a high speed transducer is to mount your SI td higher so it would not get torn off/dmaaged if you hit something at high speeds. The td that comes with it will read just fine at high speeds. I run a 998 with the same transducer and do not use the 83/200 transducer for high speeds and I get great bottom readings 
Can’t speak for HB, but both my HDS 10’s, and LCX 38 all read at high speeds as far as depth on standard 83/200 skimmer transducer.
Nothing above about 7 MPH though on down or side. Believe that’s true with both, but certainly could be wrong with that statement. Still a great gift to ones self 
I personally am waiting on some feedback on the HDS 12 touch screen. Can’t imagine the screen isn’t going to drive one crazy as far as clarity/cleanliness. I am kind of anal when it comes to that though

Mine is on a champion 20′ deep v placed just to the right of big motor in between kicker. Just slighty below level with transom hope you were talking about transducer. My head unit is bolted to dash would like to get a ram mount
any one know if they make screen protectors for larger humminbird/ lowrances kind of like the ones for smart phones
