No humminbird units come with a y-cable for the high speed ducer, that is something that is extra.

As far as placement you should have it about right. Starboard or port, close to the center as possible, have the si ducer hang just below the step!!!

Get the splitter cable and the separate down view transducer. Mount the SI ducer in the center just above the bottom of the hull. The unit will automatically switch between the ducers. Having the SI ducer above the bottom of your hull will prevent it from breaking in rough water which has been known to happen. The si ducer will work until your speed gets too high to use it effectively.

if your boat has a jackplate, I’d recommend finding a bracket to attach it to. That way you aren’t drilling holes in your boat and the transducer is protected. I had mine mounted on the hull per the instructions and it was constantly flipping up until it broke off rough water.

Eric, Having the ducer hang just below the step wont be a problem? I fish Winnebago, and Bay De noc which can get pretty rough…It should be protected there pretty good huh?

Yes if its just below the step. NOT below the running surface or bottom of the hull but the step. It should be just an inch or 2 below the bottom of the motor
