I have an old 997Csi (slow, slow, slow) that I would like to move to the bow and put a newer 998C HD Si, on the console and interlink so waypoints from the console unit will appear on the 997 bow unit. Is anyone doing this? Can it be done?
Check the Bird website. You will need a an ethernet cable. Check the specs on the olser unit, it may require some other adaptor cable. Call customer service they know there stuff.
Check out the Sta bil Mounts for the unit they are nice and dont move.

Denny, you’re correct no ethernet port. Only interlink capability.
If I remember right, ethernet can do everything that a interlink can and better. But not the reverse, is that right?

1197’s – No ethernet port, just interlink
The 1197’s do have ethernet, they had the ethernet connection from new,but was just activated in the last year or so.
the 997’s do not. also i believe that for interlink to work, both units need to run the same version of software or close. to if you have a 998 with the latest and a 997 with the latest, they may not interlink. and ethernet is not an option for a 997.
personally i would opt for a unit with ethernet. as that’s the future linking option supported by 360,Ipilot link etc.
