I see the older non HD Hbirds are on sale. I was thinking about picking on up for the bow over the Low I have now. My question is how hard are the screens to see when in that position facing almost straight up?

My dad owns a Humminbird 1197csi and I can honestly say that the screen is easy to read in both intense sunlight as well as severe thunderstorms, and everything in between. I don’t believe the older models will be any different compared to the HD models besides being a little crisper, so I don’t think you will have a problem viewing the unit in the straight up position. Plus, you’re saving on the pocketbook, which is a win win!
