1197 processor speed & Lakemaster version 4

Guess I’m just a little disappointed in my older 1197. (First year out). I just upgraded to the new Wisconsin Version #4 Lake master chip today. Booted up and was scrolling around looking at different lakes. 2 things came to light for me right away. 1. It is so slow………… anything zoomed in less than a mile crawled at a snail’s pace. 2. I have the combo with Navi gold and it still pays to preview the lake map in all three map modes before hitting the water. The new HD lakes on there are fantastic. However, I still have other lakes that give better detail in Navionics. So it will take me some time yet to index card the the preferred map to use.

I’m kinda surprised to hear this

I have 2 1198’s I purchased last year and I’m looking to upgrade my system when the I-pilot link is fully avalible I hope that the 98’s aren’t involved too. Their basically the same unit aren’t they?? I’m not sure of what the difference is

When did you buy your unit?

Are there any software upgrades from HB, that could possibly fix this??

Having tried a Lakemaster for The Dakotas in my 08 997, and 1197 I also was surprised.. In the back of my head, I knew that they were single processors, and I probably would be disappointed, so when it happened, I guess I just had to say. I told you so to myself.

With the new IPilot Link coming out, and I wanted to participate, I knew that my units would probably not be that effective,(1197 is the only one that has Link capabilities) so I ordered a new 1198 and will retire the 997. I will keep my 1197 and Navionics combination and drive the Link from the 1198. I dont know where I am going put the units, whether the bow or console to drive the link, but they interchange quickly, I just would have to reroute the ethernet cable once I decide.

AJ – I wouldn’t be concerned on the 1198’s. As stated above, it’s the single processor in the 1197 and the new WI version 4 has the I-pilot compatibility. Just too much for the unit to think about????

    Randy,
I just loaded the WI Ver 4 LakeMaster in my 1197. The slowest redraw I can generate by either scrolling or zooming is about 2-3 seconds. I did this on different high definition maps (dense data). Be sure you have the newest software in your unit if your speeds are slower than that.

Last year I ran both an 1197 and a 1198. The 1197 processor could not keep the map current at speeds over 45MPH. Minnesota Lakemaster version 3. I moved the ’97 to the bow and put a ’98 at the console and no more problems to over 55MPH. The dual processors are fast!

IO have the first 1197’s that came out. Kind of like having an old 386pc
