Thinking about getting HB 385 for ice fishing. Thinking 1 unit to cover Flasher/ GPS. Anyone using this and how do you like it.

I have seen a lot of guys with the 500′ series out last year. I was impressed with the definition given the means that some guys set up their units!

I looked at the 385 for the same needs. However in the end I decided to go with the 788 HD DI since it has flasher function as well. This allows me to use one unit for all my needs including canoe, big boat, ice and GPS on wheeler or sled. Plus it has a 5″ screen instead of the 3.5″ screen.

I have an 858 HD on the bow of the boat but never seen a flasher mode in it.

I don’t think there is a flasher mode for any of the units above the 700 series.

Flasher mode isn’t necessary for ice fishing. Just use the traditional sonar with the “a-scope” I thinks its called. Its a actually neet to see the history drawn as you try to entice the fish!

Use caution when attempting to use the ice ducer that is built for the units as I have heard of them burning up head units. You are btter off rigging up a standard trans for ice fishing!
