Just bought a 2010 boat with a 798si unit.Headed to Rainy Lake in 3 1/2 weeks. What chip would you guys recommend.Keeping in mind I am E-challanged.Looking to use basic features to start. Was just starting to figure out my Lowrance unit in my old boat. Thanks Steve Also being almost two years old does it need updates. If so what am I missing without them?

Pretty sure the LOTW/Rainy Lakemaster chip is the one you want to get.

Also, I took my 798 into Cabela’s and they upgraded it for free. May want to call ahead though…

If you can figure out a lowrance, an h-bird will be no problem with menus and screens.
You should be able to update it on the Humminbird website, I just bought a 788ci HD DI and it walked you right through on how to do the updates.

Make sure you get the Humminbird version of the Lakemaster Woods/Rainy chip. It is a very nice tool to have up there Have fun
