I just put a 597 in my boat. I was able to get it on the water today to test it out. Everything seemed to work well except when I ran my boat over 25 mph, the sonar would bounce the depth all over. What adjustments would you suggest to make to correct this?

PS – I live 50 minutes from the mississippi, so it isn’t easy to just go out after work to test it.

    Thank you.

mine was the transducer, should be little high in the front but still correct overall and no rooster tail..also use a mounting board..it took me 3 adjustments than yippee..

Agreed, it is the angle of the ducer. It will all depend on how your boat sits in the water and how it rides when on plane. You will have to make small adjustments until you get it right.

I would also make sure the ducer is not directly behind anything on your boat that would cause turbulent water like a row of rivets etc. The air bubbles created by the obstruction can cause issues as well.

I am thinking of buying a 597, how does everyone like there’s? How well does the DI view work on the river , does it show the images very well?

I really like mine, the images at a reasonable speed are incredible, I love to look at the structure on the bottom of the locks on the DI when I lock through. I can also see features on the bottom that I could not with my old unit.

In my opinion you cannot go wrong with one.

I’m very happy with mine overall. I’ve had one for roughly a year and had no issues. Of course if money was no object, I would have went bigger but thats dreamland for me. Took awhile to get it dialed in but now I wouldn’t be on the water without it. Run to my spots with the GPS view and then switch to splitscreen DI/Sonar. DI works great for separating the “junk” on the bottom and can really help to identify what structure your fishing. Not real helpful for marking fish but the classic “arches” on sonar take care of that. DI is more useful for structure ID and sonar is better for fish ID, but that’s just my opinion. My unit reads nicely up to 25-30 mph and then gets a bit fuzzy. I’ve used it also with both Lakemaster and Navionics without issue.

Well I purchased a 597ci di Hd. Wow what an up grade from my older eagle sonar. I still have to do a little ajusting to the transducer so my depth will read better, after 18 mph it jumps all over the place. What settings on the sonar and DI have you guys found that works the best ?
