Hi there, I just installed a 798 in my boat. The problems I am having are the side imaging and down imaging does not give me any return in 20 feet of water or deeper, also i get an incorrect depth reading when traveling at any speed over an idle. Thanks for the help guys

transducer angle??? sounds as if it may be pitched too far back. Is it possible to show a pick of your transducer set up?

+1 on the angle. The tail should be a touch lower than the leading edge.

could be 2 seperate issues..depth…angle of the transducer needs to be level i’ve adjusted mine 2x so far..side imaging issuues are controlled by whats to sides..it needs a clear shot both ways you spent the $ now play with the transducer and get it figured out

I believe the signal isn’t blocked to either side of the transducer, the side imaging works great until I get into 20 plus feet of water. The transducer is about level with the bottom of the boat, so maybe I should tip the rear down one notch. I’ll try to post pics tomorrow. thanks for the help

Are you adjusting sensitivity levels appropriately??? As it gets deeper, generally you need to increase sensitivity to continue to get good bottom returns. Speed, side range and sensitivity levels are the three things to get most familiar with at first…
