Who said Humminbird has good customer service? I bought 2 958c’s both units lost depth readings this weekend nor could they find the interlink. I bought a new transducer today and that wasn’t the problem…So i called humminBird’s customer service and was told I need to send them both of my heads gps puck and interlink. Now here’s the shocker I have 137 hour’s on one unit 197 hour’s on the other and there gonna charge me $260.54 PER UNIT to fix them….Both failing in the same weekend cmon….they were bought in Oct of 2010 so I had one years time on them….Well guess I will be going back to lowrance they might not have good customer service but Ive never had a problem with there stuff…and by the way I also have a 727 in the dash and that thing has no problems and has 200 hour’s on it…….

Try turning the sonar OFF on one of the units and see if you can get the other to read.

Just by what you have explained it sounds like software updates were done with the interlink still connected.

I would get the latest software update for those units, which i believe is 6.1, be SURE to disconnect the unit from the interlink. Once updated, have both units off plug them into interlink, turn on dash unit first, let it register then turn on bow unit.

It is aweful weird seeming that they both went out at the same time which leads me to believe an inter link issue.

With all that said if you go to a dealer that deals a fair amount with birds they will be able to send it in and get it fixed, most times for little or no charge. At least that has been my experience.

Eric do you think if I bought a ethernet cable and eliminated the interlink it would help…the units both have the latest updates and my dealer is a real beauty so I will get no help from him. He still hasn’t called me about my terrova mount wi
hich I replaced a year ago. Need less to say my next Skeeter will be from SBC…..I will drive the 5 hour’s instead of 2 hour’s and no help and drive there 10 time’s….ty

EyeHabit, not sure if the Ethernet Cable would solve you problem but in my experience (and reports from others) the Interlink has been little more than problematic. Can’t hurt for you to make the switch and take advantage of the full ethernet.

get rid of that interlink. That is the reason why HB went to ethernet. Good Luck.

I would for sure get rid of the interlink if at all possible. Back up your waypoints on a chip just in case. If, after getting rid of the interlink it still doesnt seem to be working right, you may have to download an older update and than download the newest one again to get the unit to reset. I would try all this before hooking up the ethernet and see if the units work by themselfs. After you get each unit working than I would hook up the ethernet.

Hopefully that will solve your issues. If that doesnt solve them you may have to send them in.

Let me know if I can be of any help!!
