I didn’t catch it all, but it looks like HB has a 360 scan now, if so what’s this mean for down and side scanning, we going to see a price reduction on them or ?

What will HB360 do for ice fishing?

Just as side-imaging doesn’t do you any good while you’re sitting still, the 360 won’t do you any good while you’re moving. Just a different application of the same technology, not a replacement.

And I bet 360 would be a killer thing to have on the ice!

The 360 is an accessory, not a replacement!
    This is from H/bird’s website:

The 360 Imaging accessory includes a Transducer Deployment System (TDS) that attaches to the boat transom or jackplate. TDS lowers the transducer below the bottom of the boat and outboard to ensure an unobstructed underwater view. For the sharpest images, 360 Imaging can be used when stationary or trolling up to 7 miles per hour.

This sonar accessory is exclusively compatible with current Humminbird Side Imaging-equipped models that are Ethernet-capable. The suggested retail price of Humminbird’s 360 Imaging is $1,999. Availability is expected later this summer.”

I am an avid Humminbird user, both from the dash and the bow.

I’m not jumping on the 360 train. Not even very excited about it. I could be wrong, its happened before..

I’m thinking if it works up to 7mph it’d be good for slow trolling with jigs and such, maybe even casting hardbaits and such while working a area?

If Minnkota would add in a speed specific programmed 360 turn in their Terrova, you could do the same thing from the bow with SI, without spending 2K. I dont see that happening though, as it would cut sales into the 360/

As it is now, the terrova is just too fast for 360 scanning, but in essence, it could do the same thing if you could match the rotation speed to the rotation speed of the 360 transducer.. You wouldnt have a round viewing screen, but I dont see that as a problem that couldnt be overcome with experience reading the screen
