“Bootstrap” reboot of 997….. ????

While doing a software update, my 997 froze… Now all it says is “loading” when I turn it on. Can’t turn it off without unplugging it.

I’ve read about “bootstrapping” these units on other sites – reloading the software directly from the PC – if you have the right cables… Which I plan to try shortly…

Anyone ever have to do this? Did it work? Any suggestions? Worth a shot before sending back to HB for a reboot….

Froze right before my trip to LM last weekend… Oh well, still caught fish…

Yup, that was the forum I was looking at for instructions… Just waiting on my cables to arrive from Amazon… Mine is a 997, which I believe is considered a “legacy” unit… Its a number of years old now…

    Hopefully will fix my issues…

BTW, is there a way to tell if your unit is the legacy or the newer unit just by looking at it? (Assuming it doesn’t boot up)… Or is it just based on model/year…??
