I’m really impressed with this chip but I’ve noticed an issue last year and this year as well that I’m trying to see if something is wrong. When ever I try to zoom in closer than 200 feet the unit just keeps stating Loading Chart but never paints the screen. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

The newer chips were built for the series ending in 8’s as they have a faster processor. So your 1197 may not be able to process the data quick enough while under way.

I see the same thing on my older unit, but my new 998 works like a charm. LM chips have a ton of data and the previous models did not have enough processor speed to handle loading the chip data in an efficient manner. The new ones I believe had dual processors in them.

Try using north up instead of up being the direction of travel. I forget what the setting is called. This cuts down on the processor requirements.

The more options you are using the slower it will load.
Remove the target depth, etc. while at high speed.
