My son has encountered a problem with his 858 which is installed on the bow. It was purchased last year and during the season it intermittently stopped reading the bottom. If he turned on the unit while it was out of the water, he could hear the “clicking” from the transducer slow way down and speed back up. He had installed the latest updates on his unit. Finally, he called HB support and they had him switch his bow and console units to check the transducer (he is using the Terrova universal sonar) and they also suggested he try using the HB transducer supplied with his 858. The problem continued during both tests. He was told to return the unit and they repaired it. Now the same problem has begun again. This time when he called, HB told him they won’t replace the unit and to send it back in for another repair.
Anyone else run into this problem or have ideas on how to address?
