another question about 788ci

how is the speed of the units gps with the new lakemaster chip some reviews make it sound really slow

I’ve only had my new 788 out once. It seemed to find satellites as fast or faster than other GPS units I’ve used. When traveling up river it was updating just fine, as long as it wasn’t “zoomed in” too close. When I had it zoomed in it was drawing a lot of extra detail and that takes more time, so it would logically update slower. But when it was set to 100 ft or something it was updating just fine.

I set my 798 at 200ft and works fine at 40+ mph
I have the shallow depths and target range +1 set.
The more options active the more data it has to load realtime.

I have one and it is quite slow to aquire sattelites upon initially turning the unit on. Sometimes several minutes…
