    Hey Guys,

So the speed on my unit is jumping all over place when I am traveling under 1 mph. I just purchased my unit on Saturday, and it has the their latest software update. It is mounted on the bow of my boat with no obstructions.

I tried to search for a solution, but any info I found on the subject was over a year old. The information I did find though seemed to suggest that others were having the same issue. Some people fixed it by installing an external receiver, but I couldn’t find a receiver on the HB website that goes with my model (597ci). Do they make an external receiver for this unit? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    Thanks,
    Drew

Sorry to hear that, absolutly love mine.

Interference? Power to 597 shared with electric trolling motor? Another source?

Maybe poor satelite reception? How long did this last?

Mine at that low of speed does too, I just go with the average speed of it jumping around. Some say the external gps is better but I have seen that yet.
I do not believe that they make a external reciever for that unit.
Other that that I really like my 597. Looking to put a ice transducer and use it ice fishing too.

My 788 was doing the same thing. Know several others with the same problem. After a long battle with Humminbird, they finally sent me an external antenna (at their cost). I hooked it up and all is well in my world again. They definitely have/had a problem with several batches of internal antennas on several units as this should not be a problem.
