I picked up one of the 798c units Cabelas had on sale on their site. It is not the HD unit, but will serve the purpose for what I need it for. My question is this, if I got the SI transducer (XHS 9 HDSI 180 T) that is used with the 800 series and up units, would my picture be any better than if I used the standard transducer included? Thanks!

Simply put no. Its all in the head unit that would control that.

Until Humminbird gets their 800khz transducer working better, there is no difference. 455 is as good as it gets and thats what you have.
