new setup 898 SI what to put on bow?

I am getting a new boat this off season. A Stratos 186xt with 115 Etec. I will have my Ipilot Terrova on the bow. I want to get into Side Imaging. I was thinking of a 898 on the console and need suggestions for the bow unit . I want to use the Ethernet connection to share GPS data as in the way point selected while side imaging.

I have a 998 at the console and a 788 at the bow. This setup has worked great for me so far.

you want to share way points found on side imaging at the dash with the bow correct? non side imaging units will not display side imaging regardless if etherneted but share waypoints yes. I recommend going big if you can afford it the bigger the better on side imaging screen size. id say depending on your style of fishing you can get away with a 500 or 700 series on the bow.I spend about half my time in the boat at the bow and the rest at the kicker so I bought extra cords and antenna and wired up a bow and kicker mount area for a 958, I LOVE the big map so much nicer to see with out haveing to hit the zoom keys constantly! If you are looking for just a sonar unit and to be able to share gps cord. in the bow I would go with a 788ciHD. The 500 series is not ethernet capable fyi. Any of the 700 serie that are HD are ethernet capable, just have to get the adapter plug.

If you will be using the bow unit for just sonar and gps sharing I would go with the 898 at the helm and 788ciHD at the bow. Of course if you can bump up to the 900 or 1100 at the helm it is well worth it!!!

I got a new boat and electronics this fall and was gonna go with the 998c SI on the console and an 858c on the bow. I got talked into putting a 958 on the bow and am really glad I did. Go with the largest screen you can fit into the budget would be my advice.

I would suggest a down imaging unit for the bow (like the 788 HD DI). I’ve gotten to like DI a lot better than the traditional sonar display most of the time.

Edit: I bet down imaging won’t work with the universal sonar. You could always put the transducer on the trolling motor, though.
