….. 2 weeks ago and picked up a Humminbird 798CI HD SI. So far so good, I think I got it dialed in but sometimes the images look not so HD. Not 100% sure I got the transducer at the rite angle. Made an adjustment on the transducer once and it got better but I think it still could be better yet. This unit is definately a game changer and it’s amazing what you can see with it.

Anyone know where I could find a good deal on a Lakemaster chip for a Humminbird ?

Found the best deal at Joe’s when I purchased back in 2008. Have not priced out the latest.

You are not kidding man, the side/down imaging is incredible. Structure stands out like a sore thumb, though I am having a hard time picking up fish. Any tips with that?

I just went from a 797c2si to the cough cough ouch hurt to a 1198. The screen size it what makes the 797 and 798 difficult to see fish. A fish may only light one pixel or two unless it is really big. What will help those pixels stand out more is use SI enhance and turn the sharpness to high, The over all picture will look grainy but the white pixels from fish will stand out more. If just looking for structure turn sharpness off. On my 797 I use to run 40-60 foot wide for each side for my SI width which helps.

When you here with SI go big enough it hurts they aren`t kidding. It`s a lot of sugar cookies for these things.

Nice. Do these side imaging transducers mount to the transom like any other transducer?

I just saw lakemaster chips for Humminbird at the GM in Maple Grove on clearance. I don’t remember which ones were on sale, seems like it was LOTW, but it might be worth a phone call. Could save you $30.
