Basically higher price equals larger screen and I’d personally buy the largest screen you can afford. Particularly with SI, the larger screens are easier to read and show more detail

The SI & DI is generally not any better on a higher end unit. Same technology, same transducer, shows you the same thing, just a heck of a lot easier to read on the larger units.

I run an 1197 on my dash which I have split most of the time (GPS on one side, depthfinder on the other).

The 3 preset buttons allow you to switch between screens quickly as well.

Thats kind of a loaded question if Im reading it right. In order to get a unit that has both SI and DI it will be over 1k. There is a few cheaper units that only have DI but they dont have SI. The 798CI HD SI is the smallest and cheapest SI and DI unit and that comes in just over 1k retail. Moving up from there the largest difference is screen size like mentioned before. Other than that there is some smaller details such as power output, built in maps, and a few other little things.

If your going to spend a lot of time SI and DI I would opt for the biggest screen you can afford!!
