Just put a 597 combo on my bow. I have a 24v minkota with built in transducer. I have the unit wired to my starting battery, but as soon as I run the trolling motor it goes fuzzy and looses signal. Any suggestions?

you need to run a seperate 2 battery system to get 24 volts and it should resolve your interference issues
I have two battery systems. The two batteries for the trolling motor and a 12v off the starting battery to the depth finder.
I have had good results by running a second ground wire from the depth finder to the anode plate on the motor. Another option is to run this wire to the skeg on the Minn Kota. The theory I believe is that you use the water as a ground for the noise.
Call Humminbird customer service and get them to send you a trolling motor interference kit with chokes. Install and problem should be solved as long as the rest of the wiring is to spec’s. Free and easy.
