I just put this new unit on a 19′ Sea Ray, and it works fine except when I get close to top end speed and then it reads depths about 2 times the actual. Do I need to adjust my transducer somehow, and if so how please? I think it must be either aimed a bit too high or too low towards the bow, but not sure, and I just used the 1 setting on the transom angle since I could not measure it since it bubble out about 1/2 way up. Thanks…FRD

maybe it’s not the angle but the depth finder unit itself… if u turn up the ping speed in your settings it will send frequincy faster to the bottom and faster back up to the boat. that may fix your problem but if not it may be the angle of the transducer. by the way my 500 dollar unit doesn’t read real well above 25mph so it may not be good for that hi of speeds. hope this helps a bit.

If there are no strakes or pads to cause turbulaence, it is level side to side, and low enough to the hull, then it is more then likely the angle front to back. Take a straight edge and hold it up to the bottom of the boat and see what angle the ducer is from front to back, should have about 5 degrees tilted forward. I run 50 MPH and never loose bottom the problem is in the transducer placement or adjustment. Some times what needs to be done is wait until the water warms up and play with the dransducer setting make a high speed run then adjust.
