HB LakeMaster map cards and the Navionics Gold/Hotmaps card

    If I purchased a Helix 5 SI/DI unit, what micro map chip would you get and why? I am new to this type of unit.

    I would rec. the Navionics + card rather than Gold, see compatability chart link-> http://www.navionics.com/sites/www.navionics.com/files/documents/americas_compatibilityguide.pdf

    What Nav+ will give is SonarCharts. SonarCHarts gives a whole new level of detail. To compare the difference between SonarCharts and Nautical Charts which comes on Gold go to the web app -> http://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en zoom in on the lakes that you fish, click on the sonar icon on the lower left corner to compare the detail levels.

    And Navionics gives you the ability to update your chip for free by plugging it into your computer and uploading Freshest Data, after the first year can renew it for 50% of new or just keep whats on the chip.

    Nav+ is a blank chip when you get it, you download an area that equals 2GB in size or the individual lakes you fish anywhere in the US and Canada, its not regions specific.
