Guided last night out on the Chip on Chief Lake out of Pat’s landing. Walleye fishing was tough, we lost 3 or 4 walleye at the boat, which really sucked. Did get some nice pike though, in about a 5 minute span got a 31,35 and 36 inch pike, all on jigs and minnows while walleye fishing in main lake weeds in about 6-8 feet of water, the walleye we lost were in the same thing. I thought it would be a tough night, on the way to pick my clients up I saw a bear. Whenever I see a bear on the way fishing, I never do well.

Also had a strong storm roll in for just a minute before I got out guiding. Really strong winds, and a bit of rain, but in the wind, two boats on Chief lake got swamped, and one of them rolled over, sounded like everybody was ok, but that really sucks.

    Good luck,
    Tanner Wildes

Sounds like your having some fun Tanner and getting some decent fish. Allways engoy keeping up on whats happening up Nort.

A few years back same thing happened big blow came and sank a few boats. Some people need a sign… seen it a few times tieing up there boat and leaving the transom pointed out to the main lake. Next morning boat sunk and gear floating everywhere.

fished the flowage this weekend. did very well. caught lots of “eyes”. fished the bogs early in the morning and released several eyes in 14 to 18 inch range.
went out to some deep holes i know and did very well there as well, pulling out one over 22 inches at 11 am on sunday. I dont fish weeds on the flowage too often. I am more of a structure fisherman kind of guy.
I will fish drop offs and holes before weeds. just seems easier to hook them “eyes”.
anyways, as always, we had a great weekend again on the flowage. worth the 4 hour drive any weekend i get time!!

    good luck n tight lines!
