Tuesday, fished on my own for about 2 hours in the morning on the west side of the chip. Slip bobber fished a weed edge in about 9-10 feet of water, caught about a dozen small pike, and two walleye one about 7-8 pounds, and the other about 17 inches, along with 3 perch about 10-11 inches. fishing action was pretty good for the amount of time I was out, it was overcast and very calm wind. I had my bobber set about a foot off the bottom in the weeds.
Jess and I went back out that evening for about an hour again, and it was raining and the fish weren’t bitting as well as they were in the morning. caught some pike, but had alot of real sensative bites, the bobber would go down about half way down, and sit there, then bob a second, then pop back up. then it was gone, and some would go all the way down. We never caught one of the fish that hit like that, tried giving them line everything, we were using smaller minnows after a while to see if they were perch, but still never caught anything, don’t know if it was perch, crappies, or real light bitting walleye.

Yesterday morning, my dad and I went back out on the west side of the chip, slip bobber fishing again a weed edge in about 10 feet of water, we caught about a dozen pike and only one walleye about 17 inches long.

I have tried jigging these weed beds as well, but no luck on walleye, the walleye really seem to want the slip bobbers instead. when it is overcast you can do really well on the crankbaits too, but I just have alot of confindence in slipbobbers right now.

    Good luck,
    Tanner Wildes

Nice report Tanner! I’m heading up the Chip now for the Northern Tourny the next few days! Hopefully we’ll run in to you somewhere and then maybe you can learn how to drink a beer

I like your reports Tanner. Suscint and to the point. I’m a big fan of slip bobbers. Are you using a plain hook? I’ve had success on the Chip with pink flu flu jigs under a bobber.
