Back on the ice this weekend in the Hayward area. 12″ of ice with minimal snow cover made for easy traveling and vehicle access.
Tip-ups with shiners by day in 10-12′ over green weeds, followed by tip-ups and jig poles at dusk for a flurry of walleye action was our plan of attack.
Using my Marcum 825C camera was a hoot; these remaining green weedbeds are just thick with fish….gills, specks, bass and musky made regular appearances on the LCD monitor. In addition to the obvious entertainment factor, the camera was a great asset for ensuring that out tip-up baits were placed just inches above the weeds, without worrying about the bait diving into the green weedy carpet.
