Yuck….that’s all I have to say. There’s a substantial algae bloom on Namekagon right now. Temps in the mid 70s and very poor water clarity.

We struggled to put fish in the boat but were able to piece together a couple of patterns. For eyes we fished sand in 14 fow at the tips of offshore bars. Tickling the fringe of the sandgrass with jigs and crawlers put 7 eyes in the boat for us. We also vertical jigged some cribs in 20 fow to nab some decent gills, 7-8″, not monsters but nice eaters.

    Bring on the fall cool-down!

    Jason,

In my opinion, you couldn’t have picked a much prettier NW WI lake to have poor fishing results on!

I couldn’t agree more. We fish Namekagon throughout the summer and never have a bad trip there, even though the fishing can get slow from time to time.

Jason, we made it up to Big Chetac over the Labor Day weekend. It also is going thru a algea bloom. The panfish were on fire. We managed alot of huge panfish while up there. Walleyes were tough to come by, caught alot of 13.5-14.5″ eyes. Also caught a few jumbo perch. Water temp was 70 degrees. Caught a 38″ northern and a 5.5# largie, both were released. The kids had a blast catching the panfish. That was worth the 5 hour drive there just to see them have a blast.
