Will be coming up to Chetac on Sept 2 for 5 days. Just wondering how the bite is going. We will be targeting mostly panfish since I always catch alot of walleye here at home. This is for the family. Looking to target perch, crappie, bluegills. Any help will be appreciated

I hear there has possibly been alot of rain up that way. How are the lakes looking? Has the water temps subsided any? Thanx

We have had a fair bit of rain and the lakes are recharging to some extent. I haven’t been on the water in the Hayward area for several weeks now, but will be there each of the next two weekends. I’ll post an update here in time for your trip.

I did well on gills last Sunday about 15 miles from Hayward. My intent was to keep enough for dinner but I ended up keeping too many. It was a heaping plate of filets but they were good the next day cold. Water looks better after all the rain. One thing I noticed is flu-flu worked well. I have been using nothing but rubber the last two years but a buddy of mine said give the old feather a try and sure enough it worked best. When they slow down in one spot you can change color or type and you’ll get a few more. Or you can catch a few with no bait then throw on a waxie and get a few more. Funs stuff. I’ll be doing it again this weekend.
