This weekend was spent fishing some of northern wisconsins finest waters, Saturday was spent on Round lake, My little brother was along for the day, a resident of the area and no stranger to the lake by no means, so it did’nt take long for us to find the fish we were after, as soon as the sun started to show its face, the fish started to make there way into the net. We were fishing mainly just mid lake humps that came up from about 30 fow to about 16 to 11 fow, using the trollingmotor to keep us at 1.4 to 2.2 mph pulling our shad raps over the top of these humps. As the sun got a little higher the fish became a little less hungry you could say, at about 10:30 theyjust seemed to shut off. Over all it was a good mourning with 11 fish caught only one was over 17 and the best producing color over all for the mourning was firetiger and walleye shadraps.
At about noon we decided to move to clear lake which is only a few miles away from round. My brother usually does very good here just before dark fishing weed edges, Being that it was only noon we did a little muskie fishing which was not a waste of time by no means, None of the muskies we caught were huge but what a blast After about 5 hours of nearly having my shoulder riped out of place it was time to move to our weed edges. we were staying up in the weeds, about 10 yards back into them, and right at the edge was a steep drop off into about 18fow, we were casting white h2o precision jigs with chart pearl K grubs out past the weed edges, letting hit bottom , then bringing it back through the weeds, 99% of our fish came from about 5 ft before the edge. I would have to say that this was my best hayward lakes weekend this summer. Hayward Bait and tackle has alot of helpful tips on all of the lakes in that area so if your going to be heading up to that area give them a call and they will be glad to help.
