Heading up to the Hayward / Cable area this weekend and wondering what the current ice conditions are? Hear you guys are getting plenty of the snow – any issues with the ice from that? I’ll be staying and fishing the Namakagon Chain.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    EyeNducks:

If they got as much snow as we did here is our secret for fishing… take your sled out (without anything behind it) to where you might be setting up… Run a track or two wide out and back and leave yourself a space to park on. Your goal here is to freeze down a path that you can use the next day as your first hole will produce lots of water that will form slush. Run these tracks to any potential areas that you might be fishing and let them set up. The frozen tracks should keep you out of the water so you can pull your tow behinds without them icing up and bogging you down getting you miserably stuck. Good luck should have 18-20″ of ice in non-current areas.

I can’t imagine truck or atv travel any time soon…

Thanks Mark. Sounds like i should be expecting 18-20″ of snow on that 18-20″ of ice. I think we will have a sled or two but hope to find a fish or two as well. We might be happy kid we are able to stay dry and not get stuck from the way it sounds.
