Heading to the area on the 26th… curious if anybody has any useful info on the lakes here. Fishing walleye and panfish. Going to be there 5 days and want to be mobile as possible… hopefully taking a machine if ice is good. Thank you everyone and keep a tight line.

Ice should be safe for an atv or snowmobile by then (guessing 6-8″ or so). I’ll be out in the Spooner area this weekend on some bigger lakes and will report back with what I find. Walleyes should be along weed lines, same with the panfish. 8-15′ of water depending on the water clarity.

Look up some Tom Boley videos on YouTube. He ice fished the Hayward area a lot last year but I don’t know how much this year.

Boley just posted a video this morning about fishing weedlines in one of the deep, clear lakes around Hayward. Might be worth a watch for you.

I’m somewhat familiar with the area so take it for what its worth, but for walleyes I’d look most into Round, LCO, Grindstone, and Moose.

Mr. Boley marks spots like crazy late into the fall and goes back this time of year–I posted about scouting in the fall, very little response-I was doing it for pannies-lake to myself. My advice for next year is to scout those weed areas, he is finding room sized nooks in huge, football field sized flats, good luck with your auger and Vex. But seriously good Luck!

This all depends on is it a lake you know or a new lake you want to go back to.
I dont do much fall scouting for crappies, but more targeting hungry walleyes. They go hand in hand. Then when early ice comes you are still in the same ballpark. Been doing it 20 years with out electronics. Now I have them and find the same ending.

Also looking for some info on eau Claire lake chain, I’ve been reading all the posts and getting as much information as I can, only fished it 2 summers ago when I rented air BNB, fishing wasn’t great but loved the water clarity and scenery and thought I would ice fish there once or twice and I will be in the area this week, I will mostly be fishing pike and walleye not a pan fish guy, I’ve lived in door county all my life and would be happy to exchange some info on walleye/whitefish/pike, I will report back with ice conditions later this week

Fished a big clear water lake yesterday and where I was had a consistent 6″ of ice. A few atvs were out. Fishing was slow, no walleyes on tip ups and missed two jigging, not aggressive at all and when they did bite they were just hitting the minnow head on the spoon.

Thank you Dan… Much appreciated.. I am hoping that there will be a few more inches of ice by next weekend.
