Having issues finding walleyes

I fish the chisago area most of the time. Chisago , north and south center, green. Over the weekend we pulled spinner rigs with leeches and crawlers but had no luck except bass. Mainly 1.4mph. I’m no walleye expert but should I be going faster or slower. I’ve been fishing deep basins and weed lines deeper humps and have had no luck.

Any tips or pointers would be great.

I haven’t had a ton of luck catching walleyes in that area, I usually just give up because the temptation of a great LMB bite is too great. When in Rome, or whatever.

My advice? Just pretend you’re bass fishing. Everything I’ve read and from the guys I’ve spoken with, is just “focus on the weeds.” You might find eyes out in the basins or on humps, but they’re often moving into the weeds to feed.

Fast change clevis, able to switch blade colors constantly.

Long leads for high pressured eyes, I like at least 7′ of 10# flouro.

Enough contact with weeds? I’m in and out of em, see many guys fishing the weedlines only to be 20′ off. Bulldoze in and get out, repeat. It’s not finesse, it’s aggresive.

I’ll have boat with spinners, slow death, and maybe a floating jig, colored bead and hook, etc to figure out what the heck they want that day. Can’t force feed em spinners if they don’t want it.

Middle of day on lakes I don’t bother with eyes much anymore. More fun going for other species or tipping a cold one under an umbrella somewhere.

I appreciate the input. Both Friday and Saturday was on the lake 7pm to 2 am. So night fishing. Like I said I’m just trying to dabble in lake walleyes, I usually am on the croix but it’s been to crazy of water lately. So I’m trying the local lakes. And it’s frustrating to feed bass and sunfish all night expensive leeches

What speeds do you normally go in and out of. I know it changes but is there a go to speed

Midnight to 2am I would try the inside of the weed line with a surface lure or subsurface lure like the -1 or weedless jig. At that time I have also caught walleyes using a top water frog on the inside of the weed lines.

Never any luck up there on walleye with spinners. Too many nuisance fish and bass on those lakes imho.

Those spots hold walleyes….deep weed lines have them, especially at night. Summer is a grind, though, for walleyes on those lakes.

I’d run cranks in and out of the weeds. Go off the edges and even over the top at dark and after.

It’ll pickup on all those lakes when the water cools. Needs to get close to 60.

Ah, yeah nighttime is much different.

More prowling so they are more open which imo they will spook even easier. When they are dug into weeds they get pretty comfy during the day.

Agree with Tuma, inside weed line. Long lining weedless jigs and minnow/crawler/leech. Cruise around silently with electric. Draggin jigs from bfnt are best around for this. Weed weasels suck imo for hookups. Braid helps snap the weeds off which seem to accumulate on the surface of busy lakes.

Chisago area fish from a couple weeks ago….shad rap in 14 fow over the tops of weeds that grew up about 8 feet below the surface.
