Sent my 2005 Etec fuel injectors to Florida (fuelinjectorman) for testing and cleaning. Anyone else ever do this? Seems like it makes sense after 12 seasons.

not a bad idea at all Buzz, that way the resistances can be checked, flow pressures/volumes and patterns tested and equalized if needed.
sure beats running a motor lean and burning a piston.

once they are all flowing the same idle becomes smoother, better out of the hole performance and economy can be expected.

I talked to a mechanic at a local dealer that had to replace all the injectors a guy sent out to be cleaned(I don’t know where they were sent). After he got them back, the rpms would vary so much at idle it couldn’t be run. It would idle at 700 and rev to 2000 without touching the throttle. Let us know if yours work out well. I had an injector go bad last year, and it would be great to send them in for preventative maintenance and prevent injector failure at $300 A pop plus to have it installed. I got lucky and mine stuck open and not closed. I have been adding the evinrude injector cleaner now for a year and haven’t had another issue.

My 05 Etec 225 seized up due to a ring centering pin failure, #4 cylinder and piston had major damage. While it may have been wear, I’m suspicious that the injector leaned out the cylinder which created excess friction and wear. So I sent them all in. I’m curious what the before and after stats will be. I’ll post the results in a month or so.

How many hours did you have on the motor when it went? I sold my 225 ETec six years ago with 600+ hours and it still was running strong, and as far as I know it is still running fine. Just wondering what the benchmark would be for a two stroke wearing out. I would think with good oil and normal use you should get over 1000 hours.

There is no oil running thru the injectors on any DFI engine. There are some that add a small amount to the regular gas tank as a just in case oiler failure but it really does no good cause there would not be any oil running thru the crank case.

Added I would also being looking at the oil delivery system.

I had about 750 hours. I’ll need to check on the oil system. There is an oil line which appears to feed into the gas line. I replaced all six pistons and bored all the cylinders. A couple were looking a little worse than some others.
