I have been looking at Swellpro SplashDrone 4 for fresh water drone fishing from shore.

I am curious to whether any of you out there have tried it and what is your experience. At $2800 it is a pricy toy, but so is a new Ipilot/link trolling motor.

My thought was to stand on the shore and drop my bait/lure 1000 ft out in the lake. Much like the surf fish.

I can’t comment on fishing but it worked wonders for me last year deer hunting! Highly recommended.

How hilarious would it be to have a 5lb bass pull $2800 under in the first attempt?

    I have a hard enough time losing a $15 lure…

The drone takes your bait out and drops it so you don’t have to cast, you are not fighting a fish with a drone.

You could buy 20 cheap kayaks for the price of that drone, or a 16′ boat with a small four-stroke… jester

Here is a link to drone fishing from a boat.

I am posting it to give you the idea of what you can do….

Spot fish from the air, drop bait on your target, some of the drones have gps tracking and locating. Could be plotted of your gps….

I know this is salt water fishing but it could be fresh water.

The cost isn’t much different from a fancy trolling motor.

    Anyone with fresh water experience…

Make sure “drone fishing” is legal in the state where you are going to try it. It is not legal in my home state.

I see. I was picturing it was going to be like when Aaron Weibe went drone fishing for bullgills.

Here is an example of them sight fishing in Nisswa, MN with a drone.

Suzuki, Thanks for thinking I am a young techy. It is far from true. I am probably older than you by a ways. But, I do like my toys.

My 16ft Lund is equipped with 2 Helix 9’s, a PowerDrive with a I pilot/link, and a Ethernet based 360. None of them are new, like me, I can generally find fish, catching them is different story.

A waterproof drone might be a new toy for the arsenal, I am intrigued by the idea and am looking for input.

“That footage is incredible!” — seems like they care more about the footage and the fact that the gadget worked than they do about the actual fish.

Whatever floats your drone I guess.

This is a little cheaper and can help you cast out.
