has anyone actually tried to use a garmin chip in a Lowrance?

    I am sure that this has been asked before, but I am asking nicely , since I just got a used Lowrance unit..can you try to put another brand’s chip into a competitor.. the reason I am asking, is that for GPS, these manufacturers aren’t going to reinvent the wheel.. and that they all just might be using the same software.. so guys I really could use the advise.. since I am operating on a limited budget.. thank you in advance.

    Garmin chips won’t work in a Lowrance. Sorry.

    For what it’s worth used gps mapping chips typically retain their value pretty well. Meaning you should be able to Craigslist your Garmin chip and get a good portion of the money you’ll need to get into a same year used chip for the Lowrance.
